Preventive Health Programs for Women in Canada: What to Compare

General Health

Longevity and preventive health programs give you regular blood tests and a review of your results. They can help you track your health over time. They do not replace the screening and care that your primary care provider and provincial programs give.

Program costs and alternatives

Compare what a program includes, not only the headline fee. A low price with few tests a year can cost more per panel than a higher price with more tests. Check these points for each program:

  • How many blood panels you get each year.

  • Which biomarkers each panel measures. Ask for the full list.

  • How you give your sample: at a lab, with a mobile nurse or with a home kit.

  • Who reviews your results: a clinician, a coach or software only.

  • What support you get after each panel.

  • What costs extra, such as tests that your province does not cover.

At the time of writing, the Jill Health longevity membership costs $99 every 3 months, or $349 for one year. It includes 4 blood panels a year with more than 50 biomarkers, an AI summary of each result and clinician support by message. Personalized protocols are billed separately. Some markers that provincial plans do not cover, such as vitamin D, cost extra at the lab. See the Jill Health longevity program for details.

Preventive health programs for women

A preventive health program can help you see where to focus your health efforts, for example on blood sugar, cholesterol, iron or thyroid markers. It cannot promise a specific result.

Some preventive care comes from public programs. For example, in Ontario, women aged 40 to 74 can book a screening mammogram without a referral, and OHIP pays for it. Screening programs and ages are different in each province. Ask your primary care provider which screening tests you need.

To decide if a program fits your goals, ask these questions:

  • What do I want to track, and does the panel measure it?

  • Does the program explain my results in plain words?

  • Will a clinician tell me when I need to see my family doctor?

  • Does the program fit my budget for a full year?

The Jill Health panel is standardized and is not a diagnostic test. It is not for investigating specific symptoms or health concerns. If you have symptoms or a health concern, talk to your family doctor or primary care provider.

Testing and personalized health plans

A credible program connects each test to a review of your results and to practical next steps. Check these parts:

  • Testing access. Where do you give your sample? Jill Health members go to a local lab, from a network of more than 11,000 locations.

  • Result review. Who reads your results? Jill Health gives an AI summary, and you can message a clinician.

  • Next steps. Does the program give a plan based on your own results and goals? Ask what is included and what costs extra.

  • Tracking. How does the program show change over time? Jill Health measures your markers 4 times a year and shows a BioAge estimate.

BioAge estimates and AI summaries are generated automatically from your lab results. They are for information and education only. They are not a medical diagnosis, and they do not replace the judgment of a healthcare professional. Review your results with a healthcare professional before you make health decisions.
