Can women be prescribed testosterone therapy?
Testosterone may be considered for selected women after an individual clinical assessment. There is no single testosterone level that establishes a deficiency or determines the need for treatment in women. If you are starting testosterone therapy, we check your total testosterone level and monitor it during treatment. Levels that become too high can cause unwanted side effects, some of which may be irreversible.

How do you decide which treatment is right for me?
We start with how you feel: changes in libido, sleep, mood, energy, your cycle and comfort. Your symptoms, medical history and goals guide treatment options—not hormone test results. Together, you discuss potential benefits, risks and a follow-up plan.

What happens after I start treatment?
Your clinician reviews how you are feeling, any side effects and whether your plan needs to change. If you use testosterone therapy, we monitor your total testosterone level to help prevent it from becoming too high. This safety monitoring matters because high levels can cause unwanted side effects, some of which may be irreversible.

Do I need to know what is causing my symptoms?
No. Start with the changes you have noticed rather than trying to identify a hormone deficiency. Symptoms can have several causes. Your clinician reviews your history and symptoms, then helps you understand appropriate treatment options or whether further evaluation is needed.
