How do I know it will work for me?
We offer a quitting plan, and based on your personalized consultation and health history, our medical team will make you a recommendation on dosage and strength of the medication. The medication works by blocking nicotine from attaching to receptors in the brain. When nicotine attaches to these receptors in the brain, it triggers the release of a chemical called dopamine. The effect is short lived. Chasing it contributes to people’s cravings for cigarettes. By blocking the nicotine from these receptors, generic this medication reduces cravings for smoking cigarettes, helping it make it easier for you to quit.
I’ve tried this before and it didn’t work. What’s the point in trying again?
Even if you have taken the medication before, it can still work for you again! The way this medication works by targeting the nicotine receptors, it can work more effectively more than once. As long as you have not had any severe or serious side effects with this medication before, you can try it again.
What if I smoke after my quit date?
Anyone who’s ever wanted to quit smoking has either tried previously without success and/or had a relapse. So don’t worry: all that matters is that you keep trying.
We know it can be hard to quit, so here is our guidance for if you feel like smoking while you are taking the medication
Fixed quit approach: Set a date to stop smoking. Medication dosing should start 1 to 2 weeks before this date (for example. If you set your quit date as January 14th you would start the medication between January 1st-7th.
Flexible quit approach: Begin medication and then quit smoking between days 8 and 35 of treatment (i.e. between Weeks 2 and 5)
Gradual quit approach: Begin medication with a goal to quit smoking by the end of 12 weeks of treatment. You should gradually reduce smoking during the first 12 weeks of treatment such as 50% reduction or more by 4 weeks of treatment, 75% or more by 8 weeks to reach 100% by 12 weeks.
